Foodies across a variety of industries will gather this weekend in one of the world’s greatest food cities: New Orleans. At the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association show (June 10-12), we’ll enjoy the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations offered both by our nation’s most innovative food experts as well as the vibrant culture of this historic, artistic, and energetic southern city. Today, let’s take a sneak peek at what we can look forward to at this year’s IDDBA expo!
Celebrating New Orleans’ 300th Anniversary—The Crescent City reaches quite a monumental milestone this year: its tricentennial as a city. And as Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu reminds us, the city’s longevity is all about its people:
“As we approach 2018, we honor our city’s history and her place in the world. New Orleans is a resilient city, as history has proven many times over. We have faced and overcome the challenges of rebuilding a great city after fire, war and disasters – both natural and manmade. With the Tricentennial, we now have the opportunity to celebrate the hard work of generations of New Orleanians who have made us one of the world’s most authentic and beloved cities and to remember the fullness, richness and diversity of our history as it should have always been remembered. I invite you to join us.”
With such a legacy of innovation and resilience—along with an extraordinary food scene—New Orleans is the perfect place to host IDDBA’s talented exhibitors and enthusiastic attendees. We look forward to enjoying all the ways we can celebrate the Big Easy!
World Class Speakers—Whether it’s Superbowl champion quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Shark Tank star and branding mogul Daymond John, dessert visionary Christina Tosi, or celebrated actor and Parkinson’s research advocate Michael J. Fox, there are plenty of inspirational figures whose words and presence are guaranteed to inspire and enlighten.
Expert Neighborhood—This opportunity to engage with industry leaders and business experts is a true highlight of the expo. Check out this year’s expert lineup here. Also, you can revisit my message about “Experiences that Engage”—part 1, part 2, and part 3—from my presentation at IDDBA 2017’s Expert Neighborhood.
Here’s to a memorable IDDBA 2018! Have a great weekend, and Happy Foodie Friday!
And, of course, for something a little weird…
Come find me this weekend at one of my all-time favorite stages to belt out songs—New Orleans’ lively and infamous karaoke bar, Cat’s Meow!
